Trumpization
These days I see "Trumpization" spreading across many countries: senior figures—mainly men—adopting an approach reminiscent of the former U.S. president. They ignore opposing views, attack critics, dismiss facts, embrace conspiracy theories, and reward blind loyalty.
Why is this happening? A few hypotheses:
Strategic imitation. Trump may have discovered a winning formula for contemporary power contests, and others are copying his tactics.
Moral drift. When the leader of the (still) most powerful nation behaves this way, people everywhere take note, lowering the bar for acceptable conduct.
Renaming old habits. Some ego-driven individuals were already acting like this; Trump's global visibility simply gave the pattern a new label.
History suggests that turbulent periods invite more strongman behavior. The real question is how to elevate leaders guided by empathy and reason so they become the models others emulate.
